Student in Holyday'sSchool holidays are always fun and exciting for every kid around the world. It’s when they can explore, create, learn, travel and meet new friends. Parents, however, should prepare. Plan ahead and save enough money. This is most important if you are planning to spend your school holidays out of town.

In Australia, there are four school holidays in a year. This year, Perth, Western Australia, starts their autumn school holiday in April 3 until April 19, while the winter school holiday starts from July 4 to July 19.

This is followed by the spring school holiday from September 26 until October 11. The summer school holiday, which is the longest school holiday in a year, includes Christmas and New Year’s Day. Summer school holiday is from December 18 until January 31, 2016.

Workshops

Now that you are well-versed with the dates, plan ahead. Start with finding activities your kid will be interested in. If your kid likes doing art workshops, visit local shopping centres or stores and ask if they have free shows or art activities for kids. If your child loves reading, check your local library.

Educational trips

If you have an adventurous kid, go to a dinosaur exhibition in your local museum. Visit SciTech to explore technology or AQWA to discover amazing sea creatures. Take your kid for a 4 km stroll in the Bibbulmun Track and learn about various native animals present at the Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

Recreational activities

There are also school holiday classes for kids who want to enhance their talents and take pottery, ballet, drama, cooking, dancing or singing. Engage them in different sport programs such as gymnastics, swimming and soccer. Another option is to go to the nearest bounce house. BOUNCE says school holiday activities in Perth are more fun if students visit trampoline parks.

Do your homework. Do some online research and look for the perfect place for your school holiday get-away. Discuss all options with your family and pick a budget-friendly place.
